Richard Kearney
These reflections aim to observe the body that bears witness to our experiences. Sometimes, that looks like commentary on dissociation; at others, it includes explorations on appropriate vs. inappropriate touch (and knowing the difference). It witnesses the idea that we communicate through body language long before we respond with words, while also nodding to the notion that not everyone’s turned gaze or protruded shoulders communicate the same impression. Through reflections on dancing, yoga, massage therapy, and bodily dissociation, these writings memorialize body cues as a language worth knowing, learning, and understanding - regardless of how elementary our starting point is.
I learn a little more about the body every day, whether that's practicing yoga, learning to salsa, or trying out different chairs in group discussions. For the most part, these reflections are my attempt to play with how the ideas of researchers such as Richard Kearney, Peter Levine, Sue Johnson, and Ruella Frank - influence my every-day life.
